The
2008 ANNUAL MEETING of the Virginia Chapter of the Health Physics
Society will take place on Friday, May 30, 2008, at Innsbrook
Technical Center in Richmond, Virginia. Our key-note speaker will be
Richard E. Toohey, Ph.D. Dr. Toohey is the President-Elect of the
Health Physics Society. Dr. Toohey is Director of the Radiation
Internal Dose Information Center at Oak Ridge Associated
Universities, and also serves as a Senior Health Physicist for
REAC/TS. Dr. Toohey will give us a presentation entitled "Why No
One Believes Us: Cognitive Neuroscience and Radiation Risk." Please click here for

We will have a social hour from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and dinner at 6:00 p.m. Dinner will be followed by election of chapter officers for 2008-2009. Officers to be elected are President-elect, Western Council representative, and Treasurer. Our final item of business will be our visit by the National President-elect and guest speaker.
Reservations for the dinner must be made by noon on Wednesday, May 28, 2008. Dinner will be a buffet with entree' consisting of chicken and fish for $25.00. Payment for the meal, and for your 2008 chapter dues can be made by cash or check at the meeting.

Directions from several points:
A. From the south using Interstate 95
1. Virginia 288 [exit 62] [no tolls, 65 mph speed limit] to I-64.
2. Take I-64 towards Richmond.
3. Look for the Short Pump / Rt. 250 Exit
4. Take the exit marked Rt. 250 East [a.k.a. Broad Street], enter Broad Street and move immediately to the far left lane.
5. Turn left at the first traffic light [Dominion Boulevard], continue north to the fork, left at the fork, then follow the signs. Visitors Parking is available in the second lot on the west side of the building.
B. From the north using Interstate 95
1. Take the exit to I-64 West.
2. Look for the Short Pump / Rt. 250 Exit.
3. Take the exit marked Rt. 250 East [a.k.a. Broad Street], enter Broad Street and move immediately to the far left lane.
4. Turn left at the first traffic light [Dominion Boulevard], continue north to the fork, left at the fork, then follow the signs. Visitors Parking is available in the second lot on the west side of the building.
C. From the west using Interstate 64
1. Look for the Short Pump / Rt. 250 Exit.
2. Take the exit marked Rt. 250 East [a.k.a. Broad Street], enter Broad Street and move immediately to the far left lane.
3. Turn left at the first traffic light [Dominion Boulevard] , continue straight and follow company signs. Visitors Parking is available in the second lot on the west side of the building.
D.1. From the east using Interstate 64
1. Pass through the city on I-64 and look for the Short Pump / Rt. 250 Exit.
2. Take the exit marked Rt. 250 East [a.k.a. Broad Street], enter Broad Street and move immediately to the far left lane.
3. Turn left at the first traffic light [Dominion Boulevard] , continue straight and follow company signs. Visitors Parking is available in the second lot on the west side of the building

D.2. Or miss all that wonderful downtown Richmond traffic and get there quicker by:
1. Taking I-295 West (Charlottesville) from the I-64/I-295 interchange.
2. When I-295 ends at I-64, take I-64 towards Richmond.
3. Take the exit marked Rt. 250 East [a.k.a. Broad Street], enter Broad Street and move immediately to the far left lane.
4. Turn left at the first traffic light [Dominion Boulevard] , continue north to the fork, left at the fork, then and follow the signs Visitors Parking is available in the second lot on the west side of the building.
