Discussion of 2005 – 2006 Chapter Business

1. Discussion
a. The TPC-HPS is located in Amarillo, Texas and was established in April 1995.
b. The Chapter is supported by 15 members and annual dues of $15.00.

c. During July 2006, we plan to conduct a membership drive to several employment groups in Amarillo to join TPC-HPS such as the local community college faculty, staff and students of the Nuclear Medicine Diagnostic and Radiography Diagnostic programs, and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) nuclear diagnostic facility, mammography facilities, and several nuclear medicine therapy facilities. Also, we plan to contact the local dental and medical offices.
In addition, there are 15 national HPS members in Amarillo that we plan to ask to join the TPC-HPS.

During Fall 2005, the Chapter membership supported an Environmental
Science course taught by Prof. Rogers at West Texas A&M University by
providing radiological science information and hands-on demonstrations.
b.
During Fall 2005, the Chapter membership supported the Women in Science
Endeavors (WISE) seminar presented to middle and high school girls about
careers in nuclear engineering and radiological science.
In addition, provided a hands-on demonstration about the fundamentals
of radiation, detection, and common sources in our environment and homes.
c.
During Fall 2005, the Chapter membership supported the Texas Panhandle
Region 16 Science Teachers Workshop on Radiological Science information to
support the education curricula as presented to students.
d.
During May 2006, to support the Science Fair at Caprock High School.
e.
During June 2006, several Chapter members will attend the Annual
Meeting in Providence.
