Riverview High School Nuclear Science Honors ClassTrip to UF

Once again in Spring 2019, the FCHPS Executive Council approved a $600 travel grant to Riverview High School (Sarasota, FL) to help send over 40 junior and senior students from the Honors Nuclear Science class on a field trip to tour nuclear facilities at the University of Florida. Josh Mocherman, Science High School teacher at Riverview High School, has lead this trip every year since 2016. The pictures show the itinerary for the day and the students in the ‘Swamp’ football stadium.

Chapter Provides Travel Grant

The importance of educating young people is vital to our country’s future success and can’t be overstated. That is why educational outreach is very important to the national Health Physics Society and implemented by the FCHPS. In 2016 and again in 2017, the FCHPS Executive Council approved $600 travel grants to Riverview High School (Sarasota, FL) to help send 40 students from the Honors Nuclear Science class on a field trip to tour nuclear facilities at the University of Florida.
