EICHPS Meetings

The tentative meetings for the year and their organizers are as follows:

January: Technical Meeting, not to compete with mid-year meeting - Larry

April 29: John Horan Symposium - EICHPS-Student Branch. Includes visit by HPS President-Elect Dodd.

May: Student Presentations and annual meeting - Roy

July: Technical Meeting - to be decided

CHAPTER MEETING APRIL 29

The attached Agenda provided the plan for the 10th Annual Symposium held at ISU in room 108 of the Physical Sciences Building at 1:00 PM on April 29th, 2006. It was followed by the banquet at the Holiday Inn at 1399 Bench Road Pocatello, ID. The symposium was awarded 6 AAHP CECs via course number 2006-04-003. The dinner/technical meeting is awarded 2 AAHP CECs per standard rules.

Dinner Meeting February 23, 2006

Stephen Johnson, Manager of Radioisotope Power Systems at the Idaho National Laboratory, discussed radioisotope power sources and the recently completed power source for the New Horizons space probe headed to Pluto. A radiological engineer that supported the project answered specific health physics questions. 32 members and guests attended the meeting. The meeting is awarded 2 AAHP CECs per standard rules.

EICHPS Social Meeting 12/5/2005

On Thursday, December 2, the Eastern Idaho Chapter HPS held a social meeting in Idaho Falls. Generous sponsorship was provided by Canberra (TJokerst@canberra.com), Landauer, Inc. (dcohen@landauerinc.com), Ortec (KC.Thompson@ortec-online.com), and Thermo Electron (jeffrey.anspaugh@thermo.com). The social event was intended primarily as a means for bringing members together in a casual atmosphere, as well as to increase active membership. Heavy hors d'oeuvres and drinks were served, all complimentary to members signing up for the 2006 membership year. It was noted by more than one guest that this event was an incredible bargain - a $25 value for the price of a $10 membership. The meeting brought together 23 members and one guest - attendance was a bit lower than expected primarily due to inclement weather.
