Portland Oregon with Mt Hood

Getting Around Portland

Portland is a very walk able city. The Annual Meetings hotel and convention center are on the Eastern bank of the Willamette river. It is on the MAX light rail line which goes from the airport past the convention center through downtown and out to the zoo and beyond. The river is a short walk away and walking over a bridge will bring you into downtown. The city is also served with a municipal bus system (TriMet), which connects with the Max line to all areas of town. There is also a streetcar which serves as an inner-city and provides access to Good Samaritan Hospital, the Pearl District, the Central Library, the Arts and Cultural District, Portland State University, River Place, and South Waterfront. The stops, which are clearly marked, can be found every 2-3 blocks along the alignment.

The new Aerial tram travels 3,300 linear feet between the South Waterfront terminal adjacent to the OHSU Center for Health & Healing, and the upper terminal at the Kohler Pavilion on OHSU's main campus. Traveling at 22 miles per hour, the Tram cabins rise 500 feet for the three-minute trip over I-5, the Lair Hill neighborhood and the Southwest Terwilliger Parkway.
