Traveling in Oregon

Traveling in Oregon is very easy. There are two major freeways, I-5 which goes north and south, and I-84 which goes east along the Columbia Gorge. What you need to keep in mind is the geography of Oregon determines how people travel. Basically, in the northern half of the State going west to east you have Pacific Ocean, coastal mountain range, Willamette Valley, Cascade Mountain Range, and then high desert plateau.

Major airport is Portland. Commercial air into Medford, Klamath Falls and Eugene

Driving - The speed limit is 55 miles per hour on most highways. Where posted, the freeway speed limit is 65. Oregon law calls for drivers and passengers to buckle up for safety in both the front and back seats. The fine for each unbuckled person is $89. Oregon law also requires that drivers carry proof of insurance.

Oregon Road Conditions and Road Cams

Seat Belts are required to be worn all the time while driving. Oregon law requires you to wear an approved motorcycle helmet whenever you ride a motorcycle, as either a driver or passenger, or a moped. Helmets must have a label on them saying they meet U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) standards. School zones and construction zones can have strictly enforced speed limits.

Traffic in Oregon is usually not bad, though getting back from the coast on a Sunday can be trying, as is rush hour in Portland.
